October 15th 2013

Got up early and checked out of our Hotel, we got to the Kansas City Temple just in time for the 9:00 am session, it was wonderful, I Love going to the Temple in the morning, I'm so awake and ready to learn, this Temple is just beautiful, I'm so glad we got to do some work here

This is what it looks like walking out of the front doors

Next stop Alanta, we are excited to head south, its getting a little cold up here.

I had to take a picture of these leaves, they are huge, and it super warm here and humid I love it, we are starying at a Marriot again, we have really loved staying with them, no surprizes!

October 14, 2013

We left the Hotel and went to Liberty Jail, this was such a surprize - we felt the Spirit more there then a lot of the places we have been, this was one of these places you will never forget, and the knowledge we recived from the Missionaries there was amazing, here are a few of the pictures of the jail, this 1st pictures is the Visitors Center and inside this building holds the Jail, they have reconstructed most of it, there was just a small part of the jail left when we bought it.

These pictures are of things out in the main part of the visitors center

This home was built over the jail, they used what was left of the jail as a Ice House and celler

Replica of the Gold Plates - also in the visitors center

Next we went ot Independence, here we learned a ton from the Missionaires about what went on here legally, and how why we had to leave this area.

This Temple site is right next to the Visitors Center and sits on a hill, its just a grassy lot for now

This is placed right in the sidewalk on the one side of the grassy hill, we think the Communtiry of Christ Chuch owns this lot, but not sure, its just not kept so beautiful and our other Church sites

Here is the Community of Christ's Temple and this it also where there Church headquarters is, this Temple sits just acoss the street from the Temple site and they have a big assembly center acoss the street on the other side

Haun's Mill
This place is really a challenge to find, its hidden away very well, but the mob was able to find them!

Wow this place was really amazing to see, we just can't believe that so many people once lived here and now - no one in site, its a really sad place to be, you can feel the spirit here

This Stone sits at the base of a really old tree and next to the stone, is one of the mill stones from the original mill, its the reddish stone to the right

This is the Creek where the mill once sat

Just a bit better view of the bigger part of it, where most of the homes probably sat

Drove over to Far West this is one of the four corner stones for the Temple that would have been built here, below is one of the stones, they are in glass or plastic cases to keep them from going away

This sits at the back of the property, its very cool

Here are pictures of Adam-ondi-Ahman, this was amazing to see, it looked different then what I thought it would, buts its way better in person then looking at these pictures, its a very peacful place to see and enjoy, and its just crazy to think what will happen here some day

This is a survey stone, that they must have used when planning out the community

This was a really fun day and so different from the last few day, a nice change

October 12, 2013

This is our 2nd day in Nauvoo, and we are loving it!

This is Joseph Smith Red Brick Store, it is owned by the Community of Christ Church so it wasne't open to just go in, so I just took a picture of the outside.

Joseph Smith's desk

The brown part of the back of this home is the summer kitchen

This is the Homestead

Couldn't go into a lot of these little homes and places, they aren't open and they belong to the Church of Christ, so I just got outside pictures

This is what used to be the stable

Lucy's little Kitchen, this is the home they set Lucy up with when most everyone left to go west, she just lived in the bottem part and had a grandaugher live with her husband up stairs, for a while and she helped take care of Lucy, in her later days Lucy moved in with Emma and her 2nd husband and Emma took care of her until she died

This another view of her kitchen

This little bedroom is just draped off and sits just to the side of the kitchen

Her living room

Picture of Lucy Mack Smith

upstairs of Lucy's home

Lucy had a summer kitchen that is away from the house

This part of her summer kitchen

Riser Boot and Shoe Shop, this was very cool

These are names engraved on a wall that sits at the end of the Trail of Hope, these people died on the journey to SLC

We learned so much from the Blacksmith, it was a great place to visit

This is the Hall of the 70's, this is where they were taught, it was a house of learning

These are our family names we found in the records of the Church - Lemuel Leavitt was a 70 and owned property here as well as David Crockett, Reed and I went to the records building and got a DVD that has all the details of their families and property etc.

We walked the Trail of Hope, it was just so sad to think of the thoughts these pioneers much have had leaving this beautiful area and there Temple they worked so hard for

One of our Relatives

Brigham Youngs Home

Such a  cool rocker for a mom and baby

Living area and Brighams rocking chair

Brighams Bedroom

Excavators, found tons of Dishes etc, down in a well and just buried in the ground, there are people that put the dishes back together and made them look whole, the plate in the upper left hand corner looked like this one in front

This is where the leadership of the Church may have sat to meet

Beautiful portait of Brigham Young
