October 11, 2013

This morning we drove up to Nauvoo from Kiokuk, by way of the Great River Rd, it was very cool and tons of history, here is a picture of the sign, and it kinda tells us about it.

This is the parking lot of the vistiors center in Navuoo - I just love the fall leaves

You have a great veiw of the Temple from Old Nauvoo, this is what they saw as they had to leave and look back

After watching a short film about the history of Nauvoo, we took a carriage ride all around the area, it was so fun and we had a great missionary telling us all about the area and the things that happened there, one of the highlights of the trip

This is a beautiful statue inside the visitors center

Just behind the Visitors Center there is a garden in honer of the Relief Socity, its just so cool, tons of statues.

This is the Assembly Hall, they used this for many proposes, the 2nd floor today is used to deplay Quilts, that were from the 1830's, and many other things.

This little quilt was brought across the plains to SLC with a young girl, and given back to the Church to display here in Nauvoo, its just so sweet to think how much this was loved.

This one is called the crazy quilt - it has all kinds of funny thing in it

This apron was worn by a little girl on her 1st day of school, its tiny

Cute little carriage, that was typical of the time

This is the 3rd floor, this is where Joseph and Emma danced and they had many different things up here.

This picture in on the 3rd floor on a wall

This was Joseph's office in the assemple hall

We watched a really fun and cute play the 1st night we were in Nauvoo, all the senior missionaies have to play in this play, and you can tell some didn't want to do it, but most had fun doing it

This is on one side of the Post Office and the other side is a dry goods store

John Taylors wife, and its just so cool that she is has a smile, its the only on I saw that had a smile

This is there living room

Kitchen

Kitchen and dining room all together as with most of the home back then

This would have been there kids room, the rocking horse John Taylor made for his little boy and left it in Nauvoo when they left, his little boy cried for his horse as they went acoss the river, and John Taylor felt so bad he went back for the little horse in the middle of the night.

This is John Leanora's bedroom

This print I just loved so I took a picture of it, it hangs in the Browning Home and shop

This is the Browning living room
Another shot of the living room

Picture of Browning

Browning and his wife

Beautiful collection of guns, he was very successful and his kids and grandkids continued in the business

Another print that I just loved

This and the few pictures below are taken in a small park by the Temple

This Temple is one of the most beautful ones we have been in, we had a great session here and look forward to coming back someday

Joseph and Hyrum on horse back, this was just in front ot the Temple so beautful

This was a great day and we get to come back tomorrow to see all we missed today
