Its small but really feels a lot bigger when your in side, the upstairs is really roomy
Another picture of the back of the log house, you can see the little extra room, they used for having babies, or the sick
The Bible on the table is a Bible from that time period and all the funiture is from that time, this log home is in the exact spot that the original home was on and the dementions are as close to acual as possible
This is looking from the front of the cabin through to the back door, you can see the garden area.
This a little room just off from the living area - they would have used this as a sick room or the room for giving birth to a new baby, there youngest daughter Lucy would have been born here.
This is kind of dark, but it is where all the rest of the kids slept, the girls slept in the room that has the window, and the boys, here - this is where Moroni visited Joseph in the night 3 times.
This is the well that is just out the front of the cabin, notice the fence, this is how they fenced the property, to keep animals in and some animal out, they could move these fences really easy and they had plenty of wood, to use.
This is the Apple Orchard, or they think this is what is would have looked back then, its really so cool.
This is Alvin's home, he had gotten it started and died before he could finish it, it sat unfinished for a long time, then they did finish it and the family moved into it and lived there for 4 years.
Its a really nice big home compared to the Cabin, this is the orginal home, it has been owned by about 10 families in the last almost 200 years, so there had been tons of changes to it, but when the Church bought it, they took it back to original, and this is what we have, I Loved it. Master Bedroom
The chest on top of the Chest of Drawers, is what the box looked like that Joseph kept the Gold Plates in when he had them.
Living room, notice the wall, they are white washed, this was pretty normal, back then, the the rug is oil cloth, that was very common.
This fireplace, is like the fireplace Joseph hid the plates, he removed the bricks and buried the plates under the harth, did keep them there very long.
Then this is the Kitchen Kitchen table, next to the fireplace, notice the oven in the side of the fireplace, its the solid red wood door, above you can see, Herbs, Lucy was an Herbalist, her kitchen was so nice.
This is what Lucy's sick would look like, it even drains outside, super nice.
Reed looking at the Erie Canal.
This is the Phelp's general store, it is close today, but looks kinda fun to go in, its all make to look like the 1800's
This is an orginial Book of Mormon from this 1st batch of books
This is the Bible from the same time period
This is inside the Visitor Center which is in the Grandin Book store, is shows what the stone and area may have looked like on Hill Comorah, very nice visitor center, we learned a lot !
This is also in the Grandin Visitor center, is shows the red box that looks like what Joseph kept the plates in, and what the living area of the home of Joseph and Emma's may have looked like
another shot at that room
This is a picture of the plates under a cloth, just on the table where they may have worked on translating the plates
another shot at what the box may have looked like
This is a copy of what they wrote as Joseph Translated the plates
These next pictures are of the printing press area, its amazing how much work it was for them to print this book in that day, this is a block and tackle to get the paper up to the 3 floor or down.
This is the Hill Comorah Visitors Center, it is just beautiful, wow what a great day to see this and the beautiful hill
We had to climb up to see this, and the view was so nice, and the property all around, just beautiful, and all Church owned
This is the veiw we had, from the monument
After we climbed up to see this, we went back to the visitors center and watced the film that we see in SLC at the JSB, about Joseph, it was so wonderful to watch it again, having just seen all these sights, we had a most wonderful day and I'm so Thankful for the restoration of the Gospel and all the sacrifices that were made for us, so we can return to live with our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ.
