October 8th 2013

We had a great drive to Kirtland and arrived there about 3:00 this afternoon and went straight to the visitors center, we learned so much and saw a lot of the sights, here are some of the pictures we took.

This is a wall size picture in the lobby of the visitors center

This is the Newell K Whitney Store, so much happened here and we got lots of pictures below of the inside, so cool !
This is a page in the log kept by the Whitneys, its fun to see who bought what and how much they spent, I just took one picture of one page
They filled the store with what they would have had in there back in the 1830's, I just loved the shoes and fabric

This is a room to the side of the store, called the Bishop Store house, they kind of bardered here, did trading etc.

This is the Newell K Whitney Living room or parlor area
This is upstairs from the store, NE corner - this is the meeting house where the school of the Prophets was held, they met here winter of 1833. This Store was the missionary training center of the 1830's This also were the Word of Wisdom was revealed.

This little kitchen is Joseph and Emma's upstairs in Whitney Store

This is the up stairs bedroom where Joseph and Emma stayed for about a year and a half from 9-12-1832 until 2-1834

This is the summer kitchen - it has a door on each end to open and let the breeze though, and its the little added on piece you see in the picture, this way it dosen't heat up all the rest of the house.
Pantry
family work and eating area

This is the Whitney's really nice living room

This is there bedroom, I loved this room

This is a painting of the school house Isaac Morley Build on his land
